Once the sea of fans made it back inside the grounds, the first stop was the huge puddles of mud. It seemed as if this was the best way to cope with the disappointment of missing some of the acts that were bumped.
Anthony Kiedis, for his part, is one of those rare rock vocalists whose voice has actually improved with age. In fact, 25 years in it is quite possible that the Chili Peppers are one of the best live acts going. At the very least, they’re a band practically tailor-made to top a festival bill.
All music at Lollapalooza ceased a little before 3 pm on Saturday as the festival grounds were evacuated ahead of storm conditions that led to heavy winds and rain. But British five piece the Dunwells still managed to keep their 4:30 set time.
fun. was set to perform just as the rain was at its height. While other acts’ sets got cut completely, fun.’s was the first to go on after festival-goers were admitted back into the park. With the short time they had, the band made it count.
Indeed, whether festival-goers are in the mood for cuisine hailing from the pizza parlors of downtown Chicago or the streets of Osaka, chances are that for the next few days it can all be found along Columbus Drive. Apparently, there is also some great music to be heard there as well.
Seen in Chicago: an endless sea of neon, mostly orange, pink, green, and blue, and it’s represented on hats, bandanas, canvas sneakers, hair, body paint, sunglasses, and pretty much any accessory that exists.
The summer music festival season is in full swing, and this weekend Lollapalooza, the mother of all modern-day U.S. music fests, returns to Chicago’s Grant Park for three days, August 3-5. It possesses one component many other festivals this summer do not: Culinary Director Graham Elliot.
