In addition to headlining Delaware’s Firefly Music Festival and Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival, Johnson will embark on his own headlining tour, taking a few friends along with him.
With both Coachella and the New Orleans Jazz Fest rolling out 2014 lineups over the past week, relative new kid on the block, Firefly, has tossed its lineup into the fray.
“I have three wonderful kids and its fun to look at the world through their eyes,” he said. “It’s inspiring. And then I have a few love songs. It’s just usually me trying to make my wife laugh and then they end up being the songs.”
“He sang the harmony of the song and played some Weissenborn slide guitar. That was really neat, to think that we’ve known each other for almost 15 years now.”
“Even when life isn’t always easy, it’s just nicer when you have somebody you can share it with,” he said.
“From what I hear, I sound like I’m in a good place on this album,” he joked this week in an exclusive interview.
When asked to describe the upcoming new album, Johnson laid it out quite succinctly: “All the love songs are for my wife. The break-up songs are for my friends.”
Although Mumford & Sons bassist Ted Dwane was released from the hospital yesterday after emergency surgery for a blood clot on his brain, he will not be able to perform this weekend at Bonnaroo, thus forcing the band to cancel.
Jack Johnson will release his upcoming album, ‘From Here to Now to You,’ September 17. It will feature his new single “I Got You,” which he premiered on his official site over the weekend.
