She knows all things technologically, uh, technological. She’s smarter than Damon when it comes to stuff… she’s The Gadgetista!
Want to get the best performance out of your devices? The Gadgetista has some battery-saving tips to help all your technological gear remain fully charged and ready to run.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures
Most batteries will last between 3 to 5 years, if you don’t abuse them in extreme heat or cold. Apple recommends not going below 32 degrees for an extended period of time,. but Samsung gives the range -4 to 122 is fine. Still, try to avoid going to those extremes when you can, especially for long periods of time.
Don’t Drain It Completely
The idea that you should totally drain a battery is a myth, but it used to be true. Old school devices used to have batteries with memory in them, so if you let them go all the way down it would remember that span of time and keep that length of battery life. Forget that completely!
Shut Your Phone Off Completely
Every so often, shut your phone totally off– not to sleep, shut it down. Like a computer, your phone can use a reboot once in a while, and the fastest and easiest way to do this is to turn it off.
Use the Recommended Charger
There are cheap chargers out there, and while they technically work, they can cause issues both major (like, a device exploding) or minor (like, killing your battery faster). using the appropriate charger will extend the life of your battery because it knows when your battery is full and won’t keep over charging.
