Fall Out Boy & Paramore ROCKED Hartford!
Paramore started the night off with contagious energy and some crazy lighting! My friend and I joked we were about to put on our sunglasses! Hahaha! I only knew a handful of their songs, as I was more there for Fall Out Boy, but they put on a great show and Hayley Williams is surely a star! My favorite part was when Hayley invited a fan named Brittany up on stage to help her finish a song! Brittany held her own in front of that crowd and I’m pretty sure that invitation made her entire life! From a fangirl’s perspective, I really enjoyed that! And also, Hayley’s blue hair was super fun!
Here’s an Instagram video I took of their current hit, “Ain’t It Fun”:
And then Fall Out Boy!!! OMG!! When the band first came on to the scene about 10 years ago, I was more of a casual fan. I knew the singles on the radio, that bassist Pete Wentz was married to Ashlee Simpson (they’re since divorced), and vocalist Patrick Stump had worked with Gym Class Heroes, but beyond that, I didn’t really know much else.
This changed when I fell in love with last year’s album, Save Rock and Roll. With clever lyrics, catchy hooks, and collaborations featuring Foxes, Big Sean, Courtney Love, and even Sir Elton John, this was hands down one of my favorite albums of 2013! I knew I had to see them live! And after Thursday’s show, I would absolutely see them live again!! Rock and roll doesn’t need to be saved as long as they’re around — they’re keeping it going! They’re playful, the crowd was pumped, and their music is just pure fun!
They played all of my favorites off the album and of course some of their old hits and album cuts as well! They even covered a verse of Queen’s “We Are The Champions” and my friend and I melted into a fit of fangirling giggles because we’re also excited to see Queen & Adam Lambert this summer!
Overall, just a super fun show! I highly recommend seeing them if you get a chance! Here are some more of my Instagram videos from the show:
