There’s a lot of foods associated with spring and summer, but some of them are things we really shouldn’t be eating. Here’s what many of us start to get cravings for in the warmer months, which we should totally avoid.
1. Sugary Coffee Drinks
These are those sweet iced coffee drinks you’ll find at Starbucks and places like that. They have tons of sugar and about 600 calories for most medium drinks. Be very careful not to have these on a regular basis, because they can have anywhere from 13 tsp to 70 tsp of sugar… That’s how much you should be eating over three and a half days!
2. Potato Chips & French Fries
If you have a regular potato, it’s loaded with nutrients and fiber and vitamins… but chips and fibers get everything processed out of them.
3. Processed Meats
Cold cuts and hot dogs are no good for us. It’s basically common knowledge, but we all tend to get those cravings anyway, with the grills coming out and the baseball parks opening up. Studies have found there’s a link between processed meats and cancer.
4. Sugary Drinks
Everyone becomes dehydrated in the heat of the summer, and some of us start reaching for the Powerades and Gatorades, which have been marketed to look healthier than soda. But they’re packed with sugar. The average American consumes about 140 pounds of sugar on a regular basis each year. This is why you need to be acreful with those summer treats.
