Hot Chelle Rae sat down with Damon and Gina at the GRAMMYs to talk new music, mean airport pranks and general misunderstandings.
Hot Chelle Rae is back with a new single called “Don’t Say Goodnight,” which will debut alongside a lyric video on February 7th. Damon Scott thought they said the song was called “Dump Site,” which sounds much less appealing. But the guys rolled with it anyway! “We’re doing the 20/20 Experience type vibe, so two albums,” joked singer Ryan Follese. “One of the good songs, and one of the bad songs. ‘Dump Site’ is on the bad one.”
One of the most notable things about Follese is the song lyric-like text tattooed on his chest, which has gotten him into his fair share of problems, even if it’s not actually based on a song. “This is something I wrote when I was younger,” he explained. “It says ‘Dream with my eyes open, sleep when I’m dead, Love who my heart has chosen and conquer what lies ahead.’ It always gets me stopped in airport security for an hour longer than I want to be.”
“He likes to even the playing field,” added Nash Overstreet. “So then he tells the security that I have drugs on me, and I have to stop the same amount of time. If he’s gonna miss the flight, I’m gonna miss the flight!”
