If you’re looking for love, then listen up– Jaimy Blazynski, the Date Doctor is here!

With 2014 on its way, it’s common to start planning New Year’s resolutions.  But rather than say something broad and big like “I’m going to find love in 2014,” Jaimy has some small steps, some little resolutions that could lead you to find love you never would have found.

1.  Start Conversations with Random People in Public

This doesn’t even have to be someone of the opposite sex that you’re attracted to– you could be waiting next to someone at the deli, and if you strike up a conversation, it’s great practice and a great way to get to know people.  The bigger your support circle is, the more likely you are to meet more people and make new connections.  And if you’re comfortable making conversation with strangers, you’ll know what to do when you see someone cute you’d like to approach.

2.  Change Your Search Criteria on Match

There are a lot of people on Match.com, and they think they need to stay within a certain framework– an age criteria, an income criteria, an education criteria… Be a little more flexible, and you could open up a whole new world of people you could be looking at in your search.

3.  Get a New Hairdo

Jaimy’s gonna insult about half her speed daters, but it’s worth saying!  If you’re going grey, either own it, or color it– don’t come in with the little skunk tail around the path of your hair.  If you have frizzy, fuzzy, frumpy hair, try something new.  Hair is so easy to change and a new look can be a great step for a new year.

4.  Don’t Be Afraid to Advertise You’re Single

Don’t give too much information, but if you’re going to a singles event or happy hour, don’t be afraid to post about it.  Some of your extended friends may be surprised to find out you’re single.

5.  Lose All the Negativity

Whether it’s your Facebook posts or the crowd of friends that you hang out with, people who complain attract other people who complain.  Rather than getting stuck being miserable, go into 2014 with the attitude that you’re going to find love, you deserve it and you’re ready, and your chances are going way up.  It’s a lot more fun to date someone with a positive attitude.
