Fit-inista Carolyn Phillips– our on air personal trainer– is back with more tips to get you in shape and what you need to do to stay that way!
Rather than talk about what foods to avoid during Thanksgiving, Carolyn Phillips is here to offer suggestions on how to fit fitness in over the holiday season.
1. Apps and Technology
There are some great apps and technology which can help you over the holidays. One is called iPump and Fitness Builder. This features workouts in many locations– your home, the gym, a hotel room. There is also an app called Your Own Gym, which models many different fitness levels and there are no exercises which need equipment, so you can keep fit on the go or anywhere! Exercise Class is great– it’s an app that lets you see the types of classes they have to offer with a one month preview, or you can buy the app outright for $9.99.
2. Smart Phones
In addition to the apps above, many smart phones feature other great tools to help you keep fitness in mind. Carolyn’s phone has a pedometer, a calorie tracker, and you can even use your phone to search information to make smart decisions at the grocery store.
3. Squeeze it in, Don’t squeeze it out
Schedule your exercise time IN, don’t schedule it out. People are looking for ways to avoid workout time, but you need to fit it in and be conscious of it. Have your workout gear ready so if you discover some free time you can be ready to use it! Start now, not later.
4. Make it a Family Commitment
Take a look at ways that you can add fun exercises WITH your family. It’s a great built-in support group to help you stay on goal, and a great way to stay close to loved ones during the holiday season.
