The Date Doctor Talks Internet Dating
If you’re looking for love, then listen up– Jaimy Blazynski, the Date Doctor is here!
It’s been a while since Jaimy talked about Internet Dating, but whenever the Date Doctor starts in on Match.com makeovers, she can’t believe some of the bad choices people make with their profiles. So she’s decided to share some tips to get your Match.com profile showing off the very best in you!
1. Avoid Old Pictures
If you have a pic on Match that’s more than two years old, ask yourself if you think someone isn’t going to notice? You’re still going to get rejected– it will just be after you drop $80 on dinner and she won’t kiss you goodnight! If you’re bald, or look different than you used to, be honest and open with how you look. It will make you and your potential romantic interest more comfortable.
2. Don’t Flaunt Things That Are Unattractive
As we get a little bit older, we don’t need to scream it in our pictures. Jaimy recently worked with a woman who opted to have her profile picture taken with reading glasses on her head and sitting in a rocking chair. She looked WAY older than she was, and less attractive than she really was. So be honest, but stand up and rock how great you are, at the same time!
3. Look at the Background
Be aware of your profile’s background image, too. People choose some weird backgrounds that don’t do them any favors.
4. No Selfies
Nothing says “I have no friends” like a selfie, so be sure to avoid them in your profile. Ask your friends to take pictures of you instead, or use photos from when you are out having a good time.
5. Don’t Use Professional Photos
Your profile photo should NOT be the same one you’d use for a professional site like Linked In. It looks boring, and that’s not what you want when you’re in the market to stand out and meet someone new.
6. No Blurry Pictures
There’s no excuses for blurry photos– we can snap 25 pictures in 30 seconds on a smart phone, and you can’t find one that’s in focus? Blurry pictures suggest you’re trying to hide something, and that’s not attractive.
