Happy National Handbag Day!  This week marked the first official National Handbag Day, and Debbie Wright has the latest trends for handbags.  Check it out!

1. Satchels

For fall and winter, satchels are the big bag of choice.  Some more modern designs have a detachable shoulder strap, and they come in beautiful dark hues like burgundy, navy or moss green.  Having a great back in these rich falls colors can wake up your wardrobe, so think outside the typical black bag.

2. Tote bags

Double handles, single handle, zippers… there’s lots of design options for these bags and plenty of patterns, too!  Debbie loves the animal print totes, because they add a total pop to a daytime bag.  Just be mindful that big bags can fit more stuff, but since your daytime bag has to be functional, it’s a good way to store everything you need in one place.

3. Doctor bags

These super-bags have been all over the runway from top designers.  They’re a bit oversized for the daytime woman, but they still fold open and clasp closed and look great.

4. Cross-Body bags

These are also very big right now, and are another great functional style of bag for everyday use.

5. Color-Blocking

This is a neat trend in many handbag styles– you can get black with contrasting colors, and they add a visual style to their great textures.  It’s very sharp and stylish.

Your accessories really do make a statement, so if you’re gonna do it, do it BIG with a great handbag.
