Lorde Becomes Youngest Artist To Top Billboard Charts Since Tiffany

A royal curtsey to Lorde, who has dethroned Miley Cyrus at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100. “Royals” topples “Wrecking Ball” and while it’s exciting to see two successful young women taking their turn at the No. 1 spot, Lorde is also getting some attention for reaching that spot at the young age of 16.

She is the youngest artist to top the charts since Tiffany (who was also 16) with “I Think We’re Alone Now” back in 1987.

Cyrus, at 20, is hardly an old-timer herself. And notably for the charts, that means the No. 1 and No. 2 spots (Cyrus is still in possession of the latter) were born in the ’90s.
