Damon Talks To Senator Art Linares About “Commitment To Community” Run

The ING Hartford Marathon is going down on October 12th, and State Senator Art Linares called in to Damon Scott to talk about a special portion of the run, called “Commitment to Community.”  He will join in the run on behalf of the Shoreline Soup Kitchen, and he talked all about it with Damon.

“My shoreline soup kitchen and pantries serves Essex, Chester, Deep River Westbrook, Clinton, Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, and serves over a million meals per year,” the Senator said.  “Hunger is a growing issue, and one of the reasons it’s a problem in our district is right now, senior citizens are really struggling to make ends meet.  Seniors are struggling to put a hot plate on the table.”

State Senator Art Linares will lead several relay teams and individual runners in the ING Hartford Marathon in an effort to raise funds for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Pantries. This organization is dedicated to providing food and fellowship to those who are hungry in body or spirit.
