Fit-inista Carolyn Phillips– our on air personal trainer– is back with more tips to get you in shape and what you need to do to stay that way!
Now that summer is winding down and Fall is here, Carolyn has assembled some fun fitness activities you can participate in for the new season. Check it out…
These 5k obstacle courses can be a lot of fun to train for and participate in. There’s one at Winding Trail in Farmington on November 2nd.
2. Zombie Runs
How fun is this– these are races in which you wear flags and get chased down by runners dressed up in zombie makeup! When you’re out of flags… your race is over, but it’s a novel way to keep active in the spookiest time of year! The Connecticut Zombie Run takes place October 6th at Rentschler Field, and there’s another one called Zombie Chase at the West Hartford Reservoir on November 3rd.
3. Corn Mazes
This is a great idea for the whole family– the Lyman Corn Maze is a 2.5 mile walk through the twists and turns of the maze! It runs September through November 2nd, and some of the money they raise goes to the American Cancer Society. And remember– September is a great time for raspberries, apples, peaches and pumpkin, which are delicious, healthy and ready to be picked!
4. Warrior Dash
This is a mud/ obstacle course 5k that goes down September 21st in Thompson.
5. Adventure Park Storrs
The outdoor activity amusement park features ziplines and challenge bridges between trees. But even though you’re having fun, you’ll still be getting a great workout with each one of these activities.
All of these events are totally fun, and great ways to stay fit, whether you go alone, as a couple, with the whole family, or even a team building event with friends or co-workers!
