Morrissey Pens Poetic Apology To South America
After a case severe food poisoning, Morrissey has been forced to cancel two shows in Peru, as well as postpone a string of concert dates in Chile that were scheduled to kick off a South American tour.
The singer has once again taken to leading Moz fan site True to You to pen a poetic apology to fans affected by the tour shake-up in a post titled “See the luck I’ve had,” a reference to lyrics from the Smiths’ “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want.” It goes almost without saying, the statement is as dramatic as the man himself.
“I can’t give words to the sorrow I feel at the loss of perfect Peru. Oh, black cloud,” Morrissey’s statement begins. “After such a victorious and uplifting welcome of Lima love, the contaminated jinx had its way via a simple restaurant meal of penne pasta and tomato. Three hours later, both I, and security Liam have collapsed with a deadly and delirious bedridden disease.”
“Morrissey and an entourage of about eight people ate at a restaurant that we had not recommended, with regrettable consequences,” said Rodrigo Perez, Morrissey’s Chilean concert promoter to Radio Cooperativa (via Daily Mail). “Within hours, all of them fell sick with severe gastric problems.”
