Dominic Monaghan Talks ‘Wild Things’ & De-Mystifying Scary Animals
Actor Dominic Monaghan had a bit of a quirky smile on his face when he arrived for a sit down with Damon and Gina backstage at the GRAMMYs. “I arm wrestled LL Cool J. I’m a little more spraggly… He agreed to go into the studio with me and cut a track. It’s coming out in the Summer time.”
Monaghan, who has starred in The Lord of the Rings and LOST, returns to the screen on BBC America with a brand new show, called Wild Things.
“It’s an attempt to change people’s ideas about what animals people are scared of,” he explained. “You can have a great experience with these animals and stay safe.”
The actor has a few exotic animals of his own at home. “I have a tarantula, a black widow. I find the world’s largest spiders and bring them home.”
Monaghan’s love of wild animals brings out a unique characteristic in himself. “People ask me what’s the scariest animal I hang out? Human beings. They are not as easy to trust. The communication between me and a snake is very clear. If they’re pissed off, they’ll tell me. But if a human is pissed off, they’ll say ‘no, no’ then smash you. Snakes are honest.
