Rihanna is known for her wild dance-filled performances and crazy costumes. But for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards she wanted all the focus on her voice.

Dressed in a simple black gown, Rihanna kept things demure for her ballad “Stay” off her seventh album, Unapologetic.  With the stage barely lit, she stood dead center in the lone spotlight. She kept the ballad quiet with just a four-piece band and a little help from singer, Mikky Ekko, who sat to the side.

Clutching the microphone with her bright red nails she belted out the words, “Funny you’re the broken one, but I’m the only one who needed saving.”

Though you could make comparison to her own love life, on stage this night Rihanna, certainly didn’t look like someone who needed to be saved.

Rihanna won the award for Best Short Form Music Video before losing Best Pop Solo Performance to Adele and then Best Pop Vocal Album to Kelly Clarkson.
