Here are some ways you can help the families of those who lost their lives in the Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre last week in Newtown. Follow the links below to learn more:


211 Infoline:
Connecticut State Police are asking anyone who wishes to assist the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre and their families to contact the state’s 211 Infoline. Any victims or residents in need of assistance should also call.

PO Box For Condolences:
The U.S. Postal Service has established a unique Post Office Box to allow the public to send condolences to those affected by the massacre.

UConn Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship

The University of Connecticut’s scholarship fund is designated to help support the cost of college for brothers and sisters of those killed in the attack, dependents of adults who were killed, or current Sandy Hook Elementary School students accepted to attend UConn.

UConn says contributors can make a donation by texting 50555 with “uconn newtown,” and charges will appear on the wireless bill or be deducted from the pre-paid balance. Universary alumni are asked to include their name and graduation year.

It’s also possible to make a gift at the online site: http://www.friends.uconn.edu/sandyhook.

Checks can be mailed to the UConn Foundation, 2390 Alumni Drive, Unit 3206, Storrs CT 06269-3206. Note on the check that the contribution is for the “Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Supporting Newtown Teachers Fund

The Connecticut Department of Education, Newtown Public Schools and American Federation of Teachers and its Newtown local announced a new website to collect donations to help Newtown teachers design and pay for classroom projects and materials. Projects could include books and shelves for a reading area, art supplies or seeds and soil for a memorial garden.

Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Memorial Fund:
Dawn Hochsprung, Principal of Sandy Hook Elementary School, died tragically on December 14, 2012 while trying to protect her students from harm. Dawn’s family has established the Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Memorial Fund in her memory.  To contribute to the fund, click on the link above or mail your donation to WCTFCU, 772 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT 06762. United Way Sandy Hook School Support Fund:
United Way of Western Connecticut in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank has created the ‘Sandy Hook School Support Fund’ that will be able to provide support services to the families and community that has been affected.

Sandy Hook Elementary School Victims Relief Fund:
A Sandy Hook Elementary School student has started the fund to gather support for victims and families in conjunction with Crowdrise, using funds that will be directed to the school’s PTSA organization.

Sandy Hook School Support Fund:
United Way and Newtown Savings Bank have established this fund to aid residents of Newtown.

Newtown Memorial Fund:
This fund accepts donations for families affected by the shooting and other Newtown residents.

Newtown Youth and Family Services:
A non-profit mental health clinic offering emergency emotional and therapeutic support throughout the week. No appointments are necessary.

Newtown Parent Connection:
A support group dedicated to fighting substance abuse and drug use, which is accepting donations for families affected by the massacre.

Daniel Barden Memorial Fund:
A fund set up by the family of Daniel Barden, 6, a victim of the massacre, to assist his family.

Friends of Engel Family Fund:
A fund set up on behalf of the family of Olivia Engel, 6, one of the victims of the massacre.

Emilie Parker Memorial Fund:
A fund set up by the family and friends of Emilie Parker, 6, one of the victims of the massacre. The fund will pay for funeral arrangements, time off and other expenses for Emilie’s parents.

Support for the Family of Noah Pozner: A Facebook page to write letters of condolence to the family of Noah Pozner, 6, one of the children killed in the massacre.

My Sandy Hook Family Fund: Established by local Sandy Hook, Conn., parents and friends, dedicated to providing immediate and continuing support for the 26 families of those who lost children and loved ones in the shooting.
