If you’re like me, then you’ve seen a lot of Brooklyn Nets hats and jersey popping up all over the place. And if you’re like most people, you hadn’t seen Nets gear anywhere in the last ten years. One of the big reasons the team is cool again is because of their move to a new arena in Brooklyn and Jay-Z on board as one of their owners.
To celebrate the opening of the Barclays Center, Jay-Z performed eight sold out shows! On his 43rd birthday, the music mogul released a documentary on YouTube that chronicled the build up to the arena opening up its doors, including following him while he rode the subway to the eighth and final performance.
While his security needs to work overtime to keep fans away while Jay-Z is on the subway platform, he was able to find a seat on the train next to an elderly woman named Ellen who quickly struck up a conversation with the always reliable ice-breaker “Are you famous?”
After he confirmed that he was, in fact, famous they talked about his eight shows at the new arena and she says she’s proud of him for still taking the subway.
One more time the woman asks for his name and after first saying just “Jay” the rapper included the “Z”.
“Oh, you’re Jay Z! I know about Jay-Z!”
Such a fantastic video that gives a glimpse us a glimpse of a humble mogul.
