One Direction have a lot to celebrate. Today they released their new album Take Me Home in the U.S. and performed to a record breaking 15,000 fans at the Today Show, some of whom started camping out the previous Friday to see the boys live.
If that’s not enough, after a performance of “What Makes You Beautiful” 1D also announced that they will be featured in a 3D movie due out next summer.
“We are going to do our first-ever movie, and it’s going to be in 3-D,” Niall said. “It’s coming to cinemas near you on the 30th of August, 2013.”

Sony Pictures is producing the 3D film which will showcase the group’s rise to global stardom. Documentary filmmaker Moran Spurlock (Super Size Me) will be directing the film.
“This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band,” Spurlock said. “To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.”
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell couldn’t be happier and said the film will be made for 1D’s fans.
“I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world – this is for them.”
The boys descended on New York earlier this week for their album release and last night attended the Justin Bieber concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and ran into one of their favorite artists.
