Ne-Yo Gives Nerve-racking Advice As ‘X Factor U.K.’ Mentor
Ne-Yo is a wanted man. Following up his recent feature in VH1’s Behind The Music series, the R&B singer-songwriter appeared in X Factor U.K. as a special guest mentor on Saturday (September 29) alongside judge and former Pussycat Dolls front woman Nicole Scherzinger.
The pair broke down the performances of several X Factor contestants. Ne-Yo (http://v103.cbslocal.com/2012/09/14/ne-yo-justin-bieber-and-big-sean-rock-americas-got-talent-finale/) wasted no time offering newcomer Jahmene Douglas some straight-to-the-heart advice after his rendition of David Guetta’s “Titanium.”
“Your nervous energy is going to make you or break you, don’t let it break you,” he said. “You’re here because you’re talented, believe that when you sing.” Check out the clip here.
Also appearing as guest mentors on the across-the-pond X Factor (the current American version of the Simon Cowell-brainchild singing competition features Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, and L.A. Reid) was Tinie Tempah, Cheryl Cole, and Sharon Osbourne.
Such past X Factor contestants as Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle and One Direction have gone on to have successful recording careers. Of course, Ne-Yo isn’t giving up his recording career for the small screen. The Senior Vice President of A&R at Motown is gearing up for the October 13 release of his upcoming album R.E.D. —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
