Beyonce And Oprah Celebrate Gabby Douglas: “Thank You For Inspiring Us!”

In a series of tweets and public congratulations, Beyonce and Oprah Winfrey flip for the newly minted gold medalist.

The spunky 16-year-old, dubbed “The Flying Squirrel,” is the first African-American to take home a gold medal in the women’s gymnastics all-around. It’s a feat that has not gone without great notice.

“A huge congratulations to 16 year old Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas – WOW – what a thrill to watch you take this Gold! – enjoy this moment, its yours,” Bey wrote on her website. “Thank you for inspiring all of us! Love, B.”

Oprah is also praising the 4’9 Douglas:

As thrilled as she was about the gold, Oprah seemed even more excited about Gabby being a cover girl.

If that wasn’t enough, Gabby and the rest of her teammates got a chance to meet with royalty. Team USA’s captain, Aly Raisman even tweeted about the big meeting:

Though, Gabby didn’t win gold today (August 6) in the women’s uneven bars final, she’s still got the support of her homeland, including some young Stateside gymnasts who can get strong with a bowl of Corn Flakes, just like the Olympian herself.

Gabby signed a deal with the Kellogs cereal joining other past Olympians like Mary Lou Retton and Michael Phelps who have earned a spot on the box.
