Javier is the hometown guy of the All-Star Spring Fling, and the West Hartford native definitely gets noticed when he’s around town… including (Gina’s favorite) the Cheesecake Factory in Blue Back Square. “For some reason, everybody at the Cheesecake Factory knows me!”
During the weekend when he first got back from The Voice, Javier went to West Hartford Center, and virtually everyone recognized him, stopping to get a picture or offer congratulations. “It was really, really flattering, it doesn’t get old. It’s been amazing,” he recalled. But have there been any crazy moments that go beyond flattering? Not really, aside from the occasional person following him creepily in silence, which can get awkward.
Javier is looking forward to performing along with his fellow Voice winner Jermaine Paul tonight, but it’s not the first time the two singers have crossed paths. Previously Javier had met Paul during the new winner’s stint as a backup singer for Alicia Keys, and of course during the semi-finals of Season Two when Javier re-appeared on the hit series. “He’s a great guy, super talented, and I’m really excited to do a show with him tonight.”
What’s next for Javier? Craig and Company found out yesterday he’ll be performing at the White House on July 4th, at a show called The Capital Fourth along with the National Symphony Orchestra. “It’s gonna be an amazing opportunity,” he said. Javier also has quite a few local shows coming up here in Connecticut, including appearances at Infinity Hall, the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, and even a gig at Mohegan Sun… and of course, he’ll be performing in just moments here at the Spring Fling!
