Police officials say Steven Egan, 52, mistook his girlfriend, 52-year-old Lisa Simmons, for a wild hog on a camping trip.
The accident took place at Cowart Hunt Camp in Flagler County. Egan heard a noise outside his tent while the two were hunting.
He shot what he believed to be a wild hog and went outside to track it. He heard a noise again and turned to shoot the animal.
According to the Sheriff’s office, Egan instead sent a .30 caliber rifle shot right through both of Simmons’ upper legs. Egan “said he was unaware that Simmons had left the tent and was in the woods.”
Simmons was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center for surgery.
96.5 believes he’ll be in the “hog“-house for a few months at the least.
What type of punishment would you levy on your husband if he were to do this?
