New Katy Perry Song “Wide Awake” Showcases Heartbreak
With sweeping music and poignant vocals, Katy Perry‘s “Wide Awake” showcases her sensitive side. The latest leak to her upcoming March 26 release Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, Perry gets personal.
“Yeah I was in the dark/ I was fallen’ hard/ With an open heart/ How did I read the stars so wrong/ And now it’s clear to me/ That everything you see/ Ain’t always what it seems/ Yeah I was dreaming for so long,” she sings passionately.
Once the chorus comes in Perry continues, “I’m falling from cloud nine.”
While current radio single “Part of Me” continues to climb the charts, Perry’s latest leak adds to the heartbreak.
After Rihanna spoke of working on music with Perry, during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1, Perry revealed more on their future collaboration.
“We’ve collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It’s one of those things that’s got so much build up that we have to deliver. I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,’ not ‘Beautiful Liar,'” she said.
“But I definitely want to do something that is so iconic. Rihanna’s kind of busy too. We’re both busy but we planted the seed two years ago. How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it’s no good? Sometimes you have to wait for greatness.”
As Perry gears up for the March 26 release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, the music video for “Part of Me” will air March 21 on MTV First.
