After creating a buzz with an appearance on the VH1 reality show T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle, Usher hit the radio today to tease a new top secret movie role and to speak on his long-awaited collaboration with T.I.
While the making of the new track was documented on Family Hustle, Usher said the show offered only a small peek at their studio chemistry.
“We couldn’t really bottle up the entire experience of us working together,” he told V-103‘s Ryan Cameron, in an interview that was live-steamed online. “We’ve been wanting to do a song for a minute. Our relationship goes back before music…since we were kids in the industry. I was glad to be a part of it.”
Along the course of the interview, Usher also dropped a few clues about a new movie role.
“I got some breaking news I want to share with you,” he said. “There is an incredible role I’m getting ready to play. It’s something that everybody is going to love.”
For details he directed people to watch for an announcement on his “Myspace” page (he meant Facebook) and Twitter accounts, however, he did say the character he was going to play is “an icon of our time.”
While he dropped his new single “Climax,” on Valentines day, he also was reluctant to offer information about his new album. When pressed for a release date, he responded: “It will be out this year.” —E. Parker, CBSLocal/New York
