The Boston Globe today reported a special limited edition ice cream only being sold in Harvard Square called “Taste the Lin-Sanity,” named after Harvard University graduate and Knicks star Jeremy Lin.
The ice cream is made with vanilla frozen yogurt, lychee honey swirls and comes with a waffle cookie on the side, which can be dipped into the ice cream or crushed on top.
The fresh waffle cookie ingredient replaces initial batches of the ice cream flavor that included “fortune cookie pieces” mixed in with the ice cream.
“There seemed to be a bit of an initial backlash about it, but we obviously weren’t looking to offend anybody and the majority of the feedback about it has been positive,” Ryan Midden, Ben & Jerry’s general manager for Boston and Cambridge said by phone to the Boston Globe today.
Jeremy Lin, a point guard for the Knicks, went previously undrafted out of Harvard and had a brief stint with the Golden State Warriors before being picked up by the Knicks. He has since become a superstar of the NBA, nearly averaging a double double with 21 points and 9 assists.
