The Cure may not be the most festive of bands, but this December sees them release a double live album The Cure: Bestival Live 2011. Comprising their ‘greatest-hits’ headline set from the UK festival in September, proceeds will go to charity.

Today Trends is looking at the band’s recent scrobbles, to see how the release may do.

The graph above displays the band’s weekly scrobbles over the past year, with a peak of 300,000+. No new studio albums since 2008 mean that peaks aren’t related to releases – but the pattern suggests that listeners return to the band most over the colder months.

Bestival Live 2011 will be The Cure’s fourth live album, and their first since 1993. With users loving older tracks the most, with “Friday I’m In Love” alone gaining 8,598 listeners in the past seven days, it seems likely that a good chunk of their 2,095,394 listeners will want to keep warm with a new live set.
