Sugarland “Heartbroken” After Incident, Cancels Iowa Show

Jennifer Nettles of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sugarland [/lastfm]says members are heartbroken after last night’s stage collapse at the Indiana State Fair.

Five people have died and dozens are injured after the strong winds toppled the stage the crowd.

Nettles has issued a statement saying the band is “stunned and heartbroken for the fans and their families in Indiana. We hold those injured in our prayers at this very sad time. There are no words. It is tragic.”

Sugarland tweeted, “We are all right, We are praying for our fans, and the people of Indianapolis. We hope you’ll join us. They need your strength.”

Sara Bareilles, the concert’s opening act, performed before the severe weather caused the stage to collapse. Bareilles also tweeted, “I’m speechless and feel so helpless, Please send love and prayers to Indianapolis tonight. My heart aches for the lives lost.”

They also have cancelled their Sunday show at the Iowa State Fair.
