Did Lady Gaga take money from the sale of her “We Pray For Japan” wristbands, that was supposed to go to the victims in Japan? One attorney in Michigan thinks so and is suing her for $5 million.
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] is being sued for scamming the charity that would have sent money to the victims of the earthquake & tsunami in Japan from the sale of her wristbands.
Gaga said that all of the money would go to the victims, but a Michigan law firm said that isn’t happening.
The bracelets were sold for $5, plus $3.99 for shipping and handling and 6 cents for taxes. They are alledging that Gaga raised the price of the shipping so she could pocket some of the money. According to the law firm, they are just trying to make sure the money goes where it belongs.
They said, “I’m suing Lady Gaga simply to hold her accountable for giving the money that she was raising for charity to the cause that she was trying to raise it for.”
The lawsuit also alledges that Gaga has violated a lot of federal racketeering laws and consumer protection laws.
So far, no comment from Lady Gaga or her reps.
