The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Katie Couric and Matt Lauer may be looking to start a daytime talk show in the near future, but she will be back on Today on Wednesday morning.

She will be on the show to promote her new book, The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons From Extraordinary Lives, which hits stores Tuesday.

Katie’s contract with the CBS Evening News is expiring soon, and The Hollywood Reporter says that she could be working with Jeff Zucker, with whom she worked on Today, to develop a new daytime talk show.

With Meredith Viera likely to leave Today when her contract expires in September, it has also been reported that Matt Lauer would most likely exit when his contract expires in 2012.

Don’t get too excited for a Matt & Katie reunion talk show anytime soon though, because it’s just in the beginning stages of development, and Comcast, who now owns NBC, probably won’t let Matt Lauer go easily.
