Last week The Strokes faced stiff competition in our Top Tracks chart, with Adele and Lady Gaga hot on their heels. But have the NY guitar gang been toppled? Read on to find out.

As tracks from their latest release, Angles took over the Top Tracks chart last week, The Strokes reached #1 with new song “Under Cover Of Darkness”, swiping the top spot from chart favorite Adele and pushing Lady Gaga out of the Top 5.

However, it looks as though the tables have now turned, as London songstress Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” is back at #1 for the second time with 40,201 listeners, and many other female solo stars are reclaiming their places in the chart as their songs continue to increase in popularity.

Lady Gaga continues to grip Last.fm listeners, as her track “Born This Way” has climbed up three places to #3, clocking up 30,584 listeners. One of the ultimate pop queens, Britney Spears also joins the Top Tracks ranks, with her new songs “Till The World Ends” and “Hold It Against Me” in at #6 and #7 respectively.

Will the solo stars continue their reign, or will a new release push through to dominate the Top Tracks chart next week? Check back in a week to see Last.fm Trends’ report.
