Last.fm Trends: Katy Perry’s Chart Hits Live On Letterman
The latest guest on Live on Letterman has been announced, and it’s Katy Perry who’ll be gracing the stage of the legendary Ed Sullivan Theater on August 24th. Celebrating the launch of Teenage Dream, the show will be broadcast live online and available on demand afterward, making it a genuinely unmissable occasion.
Last.fm Trends had a look at what Katy’s fans have been playing, to see what surprises the California Gurl could drop in to her set…
With “California Gurls“, Katy’s West-coast riposte to Jay-Z‘s “Empire State Of Mind“, still ripping up the charts Katy’s fans have been playing a pretty diverse set from her major-label debut One Of The Boys.
The latest single, featuring Snoop Dogg, has received 967,489 scrobbles so far, bubbling inside the top ten most played tracks by Katy in the last six months, a figure likely to change once Teenage Dream drops.
Further up the charts it’s singles like “Waking Up in Vegas” and “Hot N Cold” doing well, tracks that have been worldwide hits, and contributed to Katy ranking fairly highly in Last.fm’s Best of 2008.
But ruling the roost is “I Kissed A Girl“, the singer’s controversial breakout track. It made listeners around the world sit up and pay attention, and they liked it. With 4,761,673 scrobbles to date it’s a true pop smash, and is clearly a Katy favorite.
