Coming in at number nine on Radio.com’s Green Artist countdown are indie gods, [lastfm]Radiohead[/lastfm]. While fans may and followers may know them for their music and free distribution thereof, Thom Yorke and crew have established a fairly high profile as environmental activists. Some may recall their shunning of the Glastonbury Festival in 2008 due to its lack of environmentally friendly public transport. Most recently, Thom’s been sounding off on the BP and Shell Tar Sands project in Canada. [pullquote quote=”It shouldn’t be a spark. Back in December, Thom Yorke gained access to the UN’s climate summit COP15 in Copenhagen by posing as member of the media. You can check out the BBC interviewing him about it here. Musicians and celebrities in general are often taken to task or accused of faux-activism, but it’s clear that Thom means business.
His time at the summit clearly left the [lastfm]Radiohead[/lastfm] front man a bit disillusioned. It definitely comes across that way in the interview with Fora.tv below. Referencing the movement for meaningful climate policy reform, Thom said, “It shouldn’t be a spark. It should be a fire already, but it’s not.”
